[Women's Volleyball] Bees bounce back with victory over Lynx

0 9

After seeing their six-match winning streak snapped last time out, the Bees got back on the winning track with a three-set 25-22, 25-19, 25-17 victory over Lincoln College Thursday night at Lee Lohman Arena.

Despite a first-set scare, St. Ambrose led throughout in moving to 12-6 overall and 4-3 in the conference.

But in that first set, the Lynx battled back from a five-point deficit at 17-12 to draw even at 19-19. The score remain knotted at 20-20 until a Rachael Dion kill sparked SAU. Amber Tomlin and Meredith Umland combined for a block and Tomlin followed with the first of her two kills on the night to extend the lead to 23-20.

Lincoln (3-15, 1-6 CCAC) got two points back to get within 23-22. A Meredith Siebers kill handed the Bees a set point and a Lincoln hitting error followed to give St. Ambrose a 1-0 lead.

The second and third sets were less dramatic as the Bees raced to early leads and held on to complete the sweep.

Jill Kavalauskas led the way in the win, posting a match-high 13 kills to go along with 11 digs. Siebers had nine kills and Dion and Umland each finished with seven.

Tomlin led all players with 30 assists and also picked up 12 digs. Maicee Pierce led the Bees with 13 digs.

Along with hitting .273 as a team, St. Ambrose finished with 11 total blocks. Umland was in on eight blocks and Payton Wendt was credited with four.

SAU got contributions up and down the lineup.

Hannah Sondag had five assists and a kill in her one set of action. London Williams started and recorded two kills and a dig. Emily Pobanz put down a kill in her only attempt and added one assist. Skyler Kuntzman and Isabelle Todd each finished with two digs and Kelsey Koberg picked up one dig.

The Bees will continue a busy stretch with a conference match at Cardinal Stritch Saturday.
