0 9

Doane Volleyball started fast and closed out a sweep of Mount Marty on Wednesday evening in Crete. The Tigers won 25-12, 25-23, and 25-12, while also completing the season sweep of the Lancers.

In the opening set, Doane scored the first seven points of the match and 12 of the first 13 on their way to a rout in set one. As a team, the Tigers hit .429 in the opening set while forcing Mount Marty into a .000 hitting percentage.

Set two was a complete flip at the start as the Lancers jumped out to a 5-1 lead. However, the Tigers chipped away at the lead and eventually moved in front behind four straight points behind the service line from Simonie Mendenhall (JR/Clancy, Mont.). Mount Marty regained the lead, 23-22, only to have Doane take the final three points on back-to-back kills by Jaime Renshaw (JR/Sioux Falls, S.D.) and Taylor Sluka (FR/Lincoln, Neb.) followed by an ace serve by Renshaw to claim the set.

The final set was a similar start to the opening set for the Tigers as they jumped out to a 9-1 lead and never looked back. Doane hit .405 in the final set while holding Mount Marty to a .024 attack percentage.

For the match, Doane hit .378 to the Lancers .070 attack percentage. Gabby Menghini (SR/North Platte, Neb.) led the balanced attack with 13 kills and Genna Ryan-Piasecki (SR/Castle Rock, Colo.) added 10. Mendenhall added eight kills, Sluka finished with seven, and Kirsten Bures (JR/Odell, Neb.) posted six as the team had 46. Renshaw dished out 38 of the team's 43 set assists.

Renshaw posted two of the team's four ace serves in the match and shared team-high honors in digs with Reagan Petersen (SR/Syracuse, Neb.) with 11. The Tigers posted 7.0 team blocks in the match, led by Mendenhall with five total blocks.

The Tigers will travel to Omaha on October 2 to take on No. 10 Saint Mary.
