[Volleyball] Tigers win bookends a five-set win

0 11

Georgetown College women's volleyball won the first set Thursday in home-opener against Shawnee State University. However, it did not make the match any easier. In usual fashion, the gritty group gutted another five-set victory out, 25-18, 20-25, 25-23, 17-25, 15-9.

A defining point of who this team is might have been most perfectly played out as a long rally in the decisive set led to what appeared to be an 11-6 lead. However, SSU dove late for a pancake – putting your hand flat on the floor to keep the ball from being down – that went back over the net. Most teams might have been caught mid-celebration, but the Tigers were ever at the ready. The point continued and while GC eventually lost the rally they won the match. They scored five of the final seven points.

"My team, we are young, but very strong," said GC coach Felicia Pace. "There are no quitters and I'm so proud to have them."
