[Volleyball] Hastings Rallies to Top Tiger Volleyball

Doane Volleyball hosted Hastings on Tuesday evening in Crete, falling to the Broncos in four sets. Game scores were 22-25, 25-21, 25-19, 25-20 in favor of Hastings.

Doane took the opening set behind 20 kills, six apiece from Kennedy Scheele (JR/Plymouth, Neb.) and Ryed Creek (SR/Viola, Kan.). The Tigers hit .436 in the opening set. Doane cooled off in the final three sets as they hit .155 as a team.

Hastings ended the game with 61 kills and a .286 attack percentage while Doane had 62 kills and a .220 attack percentage. Both teams had three ace serves and Hastings won the battle at the net with 9.0 team blocks to 4.0 for the Tigers.

Creek led Doane with 17 kills, Scheele added 15 kills and Kirsten Bures (SO/Odell, Neb.) finished with 11. Jaime Renshaw (SO/Sioux Falls, S.D.) dished out 52 assists in the match. Katie Ellard (SR/Ogallala, Neb.) picked up a team-high 24 digs, Scheele added 13, with Renshaw and Joslyn Crow (JR/Hershey, Neb.) digging up 11 attacks apiece. Genna Ryan-Piasecki (JR/Castle Rock, Colo.) finished with a team-high three total blocks.

Hastings received 19 kills and seven blocks from Lucy Skoch. Emily Krolikowski finished with 12 kills, Danielle Bruha had 11 kills, and Marlee Taylor posted 10 kills. Makenna Asher had a team-high 27 assists. Ireland Curry led the team with a match-high 29 digs.

Doane will travel to Seward on Thursday, October 29, to take on Concordia at 7:30 PM. This is one of the Tigers' rescheduled games from earlier in the month.
