[Volleyball] Volleyball Handed First Home Loss

Doane Volleyball dropped their first home match of the season on Wednesday night as they fell to Concordia in straight sets. The loss dropped the Tigers to 3-2 on the year and 1-2 in the conference while the Bulldogs improved to 2-0 overall and in GPAC play.

The Bulldogs took the match, 25-16, 25-16, and 25-14. They hit .424 while holding the Tigers to a .161 attacking clip. Concordia recorded 47 kills while Doane was held to 27. Both teams had 4.0 team blocks in the match.

Doane was led by Kennedy Scheele (JR/Plymouth, Neb.) with seven kills and two ace serves while Kirsten Bures (SO/Odell, Neb.) added six kills. Jaime Renshaw (SO/Sioux Falls, S.D.) dished out 19 assists on the day.

Defensively, Katie Ellard (SR/Ogallala, Neb.) picked up a team-high 11 digs. Simonie Mendenhall (SO/Clancy, Mont.) and Genna Ryan-Piasecki (JR/Castle Rock, Colo.) led the team with two total blocks apiece.

The Bulldogs received 10 kills from Gabi Nordaker while three more players had nine kills apiece. Tara Callahan dished out 37 assists and Erin Johnson collected three of the team's eight ace serves. Marissa Hoerman had a match-high 13 digs.

The Tigers will return to the court on Saturday, September 19, with a trip to Fremont to take on Midland. First serve for the varsity contest is scheduled for 5:00 PM.
