[Volleyball] Volleyball Drops Regular Season Finale

Doane Volleyball played their final home game of the season on Wednesday evening in a conference tilt against Concordia. With post-season implications at stack for both teams, it was the Bulldogs who were able to pick up a much needed win over the Tigers, 3-0.

When the dust settled on the final night of GPAC play, Doane was left in a four-way tie with Concordia, Dakota Wesleyan and Briar Cliff. DWU swept BCU on Wednesday. The tie-breaker came down to percentage of sets won in conference play.

Doane will be the 7th seed in the conference tournament with Concordia the 8th seed.

As for the match, Concordia won by scores of 25-22, 25-19, and 25-22. The third set saw controversy as Doane led 18-13. Following a stoppage in play to review the score sheet at the official's table, Doane's lead changed to 16-15. The Bulldogs ran with the momentum of the change to rally for the final set victory.

Allison Kuenle (JR/North Platte, Neb.) led Doane with 11 kills on the evening. Sarah Klobuchar (FR/Brookfield, Wis.) dished out 30 assists.

Rebecca Nozicka (SO/Ravenna, Neb.) came in and posted three ace serves for the Tigers in the 3rd set. Reagan Petersen (FR/Syracuse, Neb.) finished with a team-best 11 digs. Alexis Dale (JR/Ravenna, Neb.) led the Tigers with three blocks.

Concordia received 15 kills from Kara Stark as three Bulldogs finished in double figures. The Bulldogs also collected 11 team blocks in the match.

Following the match, Doane recognized their seniors Marissa Haynes (SR/Adams. Neb.) and Erin Warren (SR/Papillion, Neb.).

Next Serve
Doane will travel to Orange City, Iowa, to take on Northwestern College on Saturday, November 3, in the Quarterfinal Round of the GPAC Tournament. Start time will be announced in the near future.
