0 5

BREVARD, N.C. – Volleyball defeated the Brevard Tornados in four sets (25-21, 24-26, 25-22, 25-13) on Tuesday evening. The non-conference win puts the Cavs at 15-17 overall as they stay at .500 (9-9) in Appalachian Athletic Conference play with one game remaining in the regular season.

"We played aggressive at times," said head coach Kristy Kamer. "We let the second game slip away from us. We came out with the lead, and then just kind of went on cruise, but we pushed through and I'm proud of them for giving a team effort. We came out strong, encountered some mental blocks, but pulled it out."

The Cavs were down 16-23 at one point in the second set, but rallied to tie it up at 24 before slipping 24-26. Montreat answered and came out fast in the third set, scoring the first eight straight points of the game before taking the fourth set for a match victory.

Four Cavs posted double digit kills as China Brown-Woolfolk led with 14. Juliana Hummert was close behind with 12 as Taylor Rouse and Ila Elstein posted 11 and 10, respectively. Setter Abby Graham posted a new season-high for assists with 47, while also contributing 16 digs. Defensively, Vivica Nogueira led with 23 digs as Kara Williams had 19.

Up Next: The Cavs close out the regular season with a conference match at Bryan College on Thursday, Nov. 1 beginning at 6:30 p.m. ET.
