KNIGHTS WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL FINDS EAGLES ARE NOT FRIENDLY TOWARDS THEIR PREY

WALESKA, GA – The St. Andrews University women's volleyball team, who played its fourth game in as many days and who played the second of two of the toughest teams in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) on back to back days, faced the Eagles of AAC opponent Reinhardt University (RU) this morning in Waleska, Georgia.  Eagles, who have the largest birds nest and who are known for being strong, having muscular legs, powerful talons, and for ripping flesh from their prey, are an appropriate mascot for the RU women's volleyball team.  Determined not to let any prey come into Waleska and roost in their nest with a victory, the Eagles defeated the Knights 3-0 with individual scores of 25-9, 25-16 and 25-18.

Kellie Price (JR/Oxford, NC) led the Knights with a hitting percentage of .273.  Consistent leaders for the Knights on the stat sheet were Shalia Powell (JR/Dayton, NV) with 17 assists and Karina Lozada (SO/Bayamon, Puerto Rico) with 12 defensive digs.

Before the Knights hit the road back to Laurinburg, head coach Holly Mandeville said, "Playing on the road is tough as it is, but add in makeup games following a hurricane (Florence) and traveling and playing in the midst of another hurricane (Michael), it makes things even tougher.  The girls are physically and mentally drained, but we are looking forward to getting back in the gym and going back to work on Monday."

After practicing on Monday and Tuesday, the Knights (6-10/3-5) get back on the bus and return to Georgia next Wednesday, October 17th to face the Golden Tigers of AAC foe Brenau University in Gainesville.    Game time is 6:30 p.m.  The team's next home game will be Friday, October 19th at 6:30 p.m. against AAC opponent Tennessee Wesleyan University from Athens, Tennessee.
