The Week of Aug. 20 - 26 in Review

The opening of the 2018 fall season was highlighted with several firsts, most notably the first-ever volleyball match for Marymount California.  The Mariners opened the campaign with a trio of contests against Golden State Athletic Conference programs.  MCU started the run with a four-set loss at Hope International on Wednesday, then dropped a five-set match at home against Life Pacific, and then closed out the week being swept on the road at The Master's.

Embry-Riddle, coming off a Cal Pac-record 30-win season, opened 2018 season receiving votes in the NAIA national coaches' poll and has run off wins in six of its first seven matches.  The lone setback came on Aug. 16 against Vanguard--which also received votes in the preseason poll--at the HIU Invitational.
