LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Friends University Volleyball squad has been recognized as having a Top 10 GPA in NAIA Volleyball while also earning the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic award, the organization has announced.

The 2017-18 campaign proved to be a banner year for volleyball programs across the country, as a record 973 teams received the award this season.

To be eligible to receive this honor, the team must maintain a minimum 3.30 cumulative team grade-point-average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative GPA on a 5.0 scale.

"Our team always strives for academic excellence, and I am excited the AVCA is recognizing them for their hard work, one of many great things about working with our students-athletes here at Friends University!" Friends Volleyball head coach Martin Ayin said.

The Falcons are set to open the 2018 campaign by competing in the KCAC Preseason Tournament on Aug. 24-25 in Hutchinson, Kan.
