[Men's Volleyball] Men's Volleyball to Join Mid-South in 2018-19

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Mid-South Conference has added men's volleyball to its championship sports beginning with the 2018-19 season. St. Andrews is currently in a 7-team unnamed league as of now, but with three schools adding the sport next season it will then be the 10-team Mid-South.

Head Coach Nick Rawls is excited about the move and the new teams adding the sport. His Knights are currently 1-2 this season and recorded 13 wins last season finishing in the top 4 in the league.

The Mid-South Conference Council of Presidents approved men's volleyball as the 27th sport in the Mid-South at the December meeting.

"It is always exciting to add to the Mid-South Conference," MSC Commissioner Eric Ward said. "Adding men's volleyball next academic year to our championship sports allows the conference another opportunity to showcase our student-athletes on the court while celebrating their efforts in the classroom and within their community through our academic and champions of character programs.

"I would like to thank our administrative council and our council of presidents for their efforts and guidance to bring men's volleyball to the Mid-South Conference."

Bluefield (Va.), Brewton-Parker (Ga.), Campbellsville (Ky.), Cincinnati Christian (Ohio), Cumberland (Tenn.), Life (Ga.), Midway (Ky.), St. Andrews (N.C.), Warner (Fla.) and Webber International (Fla.) make up the 10-team conference.

The Mid-South Conference will be the sixth conference or affiliated group to offer men's volleyball.

Men's Volleyball is in its third year as an Invitational Sport in the NAIA in 2017-18 with 38 varsity programs. In order to be considered for full NAIA Championship Sport status, a minimum of 40 varsity institutions is required.
