[Men's Volleyball] Men's Volleyball sweeps Milligan for first win

MILLIGAN, Tenn. - The St. Andrews University men's volleyball team won their first match of the season on the road Saturday evening ousting NAIA foe Milligan College in three sets (25-15, 25-14, 25-20).

St. Andrews played a good first set recording 7 kills and using 7 errors from the Milligan attack to take the first set 25-15. SAU then dominated the second set behind 10 kills and a .300 attack percentage while holding MC to just six kills as they took it 25-14.

The third set then featured a back and forth set as the teams remained close within two points throughout until SAU pulled away at the end to take it 25-20 on 15 kills while hitting .219 and holding Milligan to just 7 kills in the set and 20 kills for the match.

SAU totaled 32 kills on 73 attacks to hit .192 while adding 29 assists, 3 total blocks and 26 digs.

The Knights were led by a season-best 10 kills from freshman OH Edgar Huerta (SO/Salinas, CA) as he hit .389 with an ace, a dig and two blocks.

Senior OH Robin Imar (SR/St. Medard, France) then added 3 kills on just 5 attacks while hitting .200 along with 6 digs, an assist and a block assist. Freshman OH Diego Hernandez (FR/San Juan, Puerto Rico) also added 4 kills, two digs, two aces while fellow freshman middle blocker Jorge Gonzalez (FR/Miami, FL) contributed 3 kills. Sophomore middle blocker Nate Blackwell (SO/Menifee, CA) also added two kills and a block.

Freshman right side Daryn Friedman (FR/Pembroke Pines, FL) also added 5 kills with a team-high 8 digs, an ace, and a block, while sophomore setter Jackson Stark (SO/St. Louis, MO) had 25 assists, with 3 digs, 3 aces, and 3 kills.

Junior libero Carlos Rodriguez (JR/West Hazelton, PA) added five digs, an ace, and an assist while sophomore libero Jacob DeSouza (SO/Quail Valley, CA) added two kills.

SAU improves to 1-2 overall with the win while Milligan falls to 0-2.

St. Andrews will now remain on the road to face AAC foe Bluefield College (Va.) on Tuesday at 7 PM.
