[Volleyball] Lozada wins her 3rd Defender of the Week Award

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - St. Andrews University's freshman libero Karina Lozada was honored Monday as the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Volleyball Defender of the Week, the league announced.

This is the third weekly honor for Lozada this season as she also won the award back in week 4 and in week 9 when the Lady Knights swept all three weekly awards.

Lozada helped lead the Knights to two wins on the week including two five-setters with her stellar defensive play as she totaled 59 digs on the week. Lozada now has 490 digs on the season, ranking 3rd in the AAC in that category and 4.5 digs/set ranking fifth. She also leads the Knights in aces with 28 and set her season-high in digs with 38 in the four set win over Chowan back on Oct. 24.

Karina Lozada - St. Andrews - Fr. - Bayamon, P.R.

Recorded 59 digs on the week, averaging 4.25 digs per set and 19.6 per match.

Had 13 assists and five aces as well.

Posted a week-high 22 digs in a 3-1 win vs. Div. II Virginia State while posting 21 digs in a five-set loss to Div. II Pembroke.

Lozada will next lead the 20-9 Knights into the AAC Tournament beginning Thursday at approx. 6:30 PM vs. Point (GA) in Kingsport, TN.
