Rio Grande Sports Information
MIDWAY, Ky. - Aleah Pelphrey had a match-best 17 kills, while Carly Shriver and Macy Roell reached double figures in a pair of other statistical categories to lead the University of Rio Grande to a 3-1 win over host Midway University, Saturday afternoon, in a River States Conference crossover event at Marshall Gymnasium.
The RedStorm (5-26, 2-13 RSC) snapped a seven-match losing slide with its 23-25, 25-16, 25-12, 25-20 triumph over the Eagles.
The win came on the heels of a straight sets loss to Asbury University earlier in the day - 25-18, 25-20, 25-19 - which mathematically eliminated Rio from qualifying for the upcoming RSC Tournament.
