[Volleyball] Point Rallies Back to Stun Lady Knights

West Point, Ga.- SAU then dropped a heartbreaking five-set match to AAC South Division rival Point University on the road Saturday. SAU took the first two sets by identical scores of 25-22 before falling 25-18 and 26-24. Point then won the final set 15-12.
Each team finished with 62 kills while Point hit .167 and SAU hit .148. SAU did have more digs than the Skyhawks, 86-81.
Senior OH Tessa Smith (SR/Jacksonville, FL) led the Knights in kills with 18 while adding 22 digs for her 8th double-double of the season. She also hit .182 with two service aces. Fellow senior MB Kiah Cheatham (SR/Kalamazoo, MI) then had 11 kills with 7 digs and 5 blocks while hitting .286.
Senior middle Lindsey Wagner (SR/Austin, TX) also played well with 13 kills, 3 digs, and two blocks while hitting .159. Junior middle Destiney O'Kane (JR/El Paso, TX) would also add 8 kills while hitting .313 with senior right side hitter Andrea Navarro (SR/Salinas, CA) also added 8 kills with two digs and an assist.
Sophomore setter Shalia Powell (SO/Dayton, NV) then led with 29 assists and 14 digs for her 5th double-double of the year along with two kills and an ace while fellow setter Brooke Thomas (SO/Brunswick, GA) added 22 assists and 11 digs for her first double-double. Freshman libero Karina Lozada (FR/Bayamon, Puerto Rico) also had 16 digs defensively along with 3 assists.
SAU falls to 11-6 and 7-3 in the AAC while Point improves to 12-5 overall and 7-2 in the conference and will next play the Knights on Oct. 13.
St. Andrews will now return home to host AAC North Division foe Bluefield College (Va.) next Friday at 6:30 PM after their home game with Columbia College (S.C.) on Tuesday was cancelled with the Knights winning by forfeit.
