Friday, Saturday, every day run day
Thank Goodness It’s Friday!
Brands Hatch race track hosted a 10k (just over 6 miles) event on Friday night, a unique change to run around the Formula 1 course. Aaron Hill, Lee Hutchinson, Stuart Phillips and Richard Price did the distance, coming away with some lovely bling.
Friday night also saw Toby Smith take part in the invitational LDN5000, a new track event in Parliament Hill in London. Toby was in a field of 28 runners in the 5k, with some very quick leaders.
Along to Saturday now – a number of our runners took part in parkruns in various places – Sam Waterhouse was in the Shetland Islands and did the Bressay event – possibly the furthermost UK parkun from home, Andy Stewart ran his first parkrun for a few weeks, in Norwich, while Jane Wisbey definitely got the long distance award for her 5k ‘virtual’ parkrun in Iceland! Thirty one others were at Walmer and Deal Seafront parkrun, including our new group of Couch to 5k runners.
Dover Waterfront hosted 3 members, including one Junior, and Folkestone had 2. Two of our 3 runners at Pegwell Bay, Mark Baldock and junior member Jasper Burman, both got new personal best times – congratulations!
Alongside the numerous solo, small groups, long, short, training or social runs, there sits a category for really unusual, once in a lifetime runs. Following on from a fierce race last night, Toby Smith went to the home of parkrun at Bushy Park in London. There were more than 1400 other runners (including Toby’s mum Nikki and his partner Verity!) and Toby finished first. Congratulations, Toby.
Back tomorrow for the Sunday roundup – see you then!
