Sunday roundup 29 June 2025

0 3

Deal Tri’s members have been basking in the sun on the run today.
We had some social runners today, taking on 10 miles in and around Deal, with an unscheduled dip at the finish, and a scheduled ice cream near the end! Rude not to, we thought.
Further afield, Richard Price was in Paris yesterday for a 7 mile run around Paris Landmarks – some beautiful sights on a mainly downhill course.
Nigel Lambourn is on the taper now for his Outlaw Half Triathlon next weekend and did a ‘brick’ session (where you do two of the 3 tri sports back to back, so swim then bike or bike then run). Nigel added an unofficial 4th discipline – bike/run/breakfast – everyone knows which one is best! Good luck next weekend, Super Nige.
Lee Gavin and friends set themselves a big challenge near Leeds at the Endure 24. Entrants have 24 hours to complete as many laps of a stunning 8km trail course as they can, and the team totals are added up at the end. Lee and his friends ran a whopping 190 miles in the 24 hours, 10 miles behind the winners. They are refuelling with a nice cold drink or three before their next challenge – who knows what that is!
Sharna Riley is continuing to solidly build her mileage, doing 12 odd miles today, cooling her legs in the sea, then a relaxed run home to finish the mileage at a half marathon for today. Well done, Sharna, great training.
Graeme Rawlings is still reaping the benefits of a new training system. Todays run saw him go up to St Margarets and back down, just a small amount of elevation (see pic)!
Aaron Hill is also carrying on with his post marathon training and learnt that putting his water bladder and drinks in the freezer overnight gets them to the right temperature for a hot morning run! Good thinking, Aaron!
So that’s about it for today’s round up, which doesn’t include all the runs that our members went out on, there are plenty of solo runners out doing their thing.
Remember that we are starting our next Couch to 5k tomorrow Monday 30th June, meet at Hut 55 by Walmer Seafront, 6.50pm meet for 7pm away. Bring a drink and suitable shoes for run/walking – it’s free.
