Joey Hannan 2023 Race Brief

0 3

Thanks for entering our event this year, we are really looking forward to welcoming you all to UL in Limerick this weekend and hope you are looking forward to the challenge of completing the race.

Attached is the Athlete race briefing which we advise you take a close look at as there are some big changes from previous years when we have run this event.

A few key points to remember and you may need to address ASAP :

  • You will need either a TI race licence or a one day licence in order to compete. If you don’t have one of these I would advise you get it today. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RACE IF YOU DON’T HAVE A LICENCE.
  • The running order has changed this year and we are sending the Olympic wave off first. Due to traffic challenges there will be a strict cut off time on the 1500m swim of 45 minutes. After this, the next time you get to the shallow end of the pool you will be asked to get out whether you have finished the distance or not. If this happens, you will be able to complete the bike and run courses, but will not be eligible for a prize
  • Abuse, verbal or otherwise to any of the marshals will result in immediate disqualification and you will be asked to leave the course. Our marshals have given up a lot of their free time to keep you safe on the course, BE NICE TO THEM.

Other than that, enjoy the race, it is a safe challenging course and with it being the first race of the season for many of you I hope that it meets all of your expectations.

Best of luck, Yours in Sport.

Richard Chapman, Race Director.
