[Men's Tennis] Men's Tennis Tournament Title to Northwestern Ohio
LIMA, Ohio - (Complete Results | Conference Honors) - The Northwestern Men's Tennis team won the 2017 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Tournament with a 5-0 win agains Lawrence Tech to complete the championship sweep. The top-seeded Racers won both of their matches 5-0 en route to their third consecutive tournament title. The win gives the Racers the league's automatic berth to the NAIA Men's Tennis National Championship May 16-20 in Mobile, Ala.
Phil Carlisle picked up Coach of the Year honors after leading the Racers during the season. UNOH senior Theo Baudin was named Player of the Year and Cornerstone's Marc Lerch was named Newcomer of the Year. Steve Behmlander of Lawrence Tech was voted as the Champions of Character Coach for best exemplifying the five core character values of integriy, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
All-Conference teams along with All-Academic (juniors or above in academic standing with cumulative 3.25 GPA) and Champions of Character teams were also released.
