Warriors Fall in Finals

Travis Kimsey (Photo by Kaci Mexico)By Kaci Mexico April 21, 2016 After seven hard fought matches, #16 Westmont Men’s Tennis (9-8) fell to #13 Lewis-Clark State (11-9) in the Men’s Tennis Golden State Athletic Conference Tournament Championship. Lewis-Clark State defeated the Warriors by a score of 5-2. Westmont and Lewis-Clark State split the first two doubles matches. Playing at number two, Quentin Wacquez and Alexandra D’aboville earned Lewis-Clark State the first point of the game when they defeated Luke Whalen and Christian Mathis 8-3; and at number three, Tommy Nightingale and Jordan Strandness evened the score when they overcame Sonam Phuntsok and Andres Bustani 8-6. Lewis-Clark State won the third doubles match and took a 2-1 lead when Yonas Woldetsadik and Jeff Su clinched a narrow 9-8 (7-0) victory in a neck and neck match against Carl Lindqvist and Travis Kimsey, playing at number one.
