[Women's Tennis] Hawks Sweep Conference Play with Win against Westmont
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – In the last GSAC match of the season, the SDC women's tennis team handled Westmont 8-1 to clinch and secure the No. 1 seed in the GSAC Tournament next week.
The wins also claims the first regular season title for the team in program history. SDC improved to 13-2 on the season and a clean 8-0 in conference. The Warriors fall to 3-15 on the year and 3-5 in the GSAC.
In singles play, the Hawks won the first five matches to clinch the victory. Miriam Boeta was the first one to win her match 6-1, 6-1 in No. 6 Singles. Heather Borsos was next at No. 5 Singles, winning 6-0, 6-2. Augustine followed for the third win and Aleksandra Emelianova clinched the fifth point with a win in No. 3 Singles
With the win in the bag already, Brittany Augustine and Nadine Geschke won a close 9-8 match that capped a 3-0 doubles win by the Hawks. Brooke Ferslov-Jensen and Miriam Boeta finished first with an 8-4 set win, matched by No. 2 Doubles Heather Borsos and Aleksandra Emelianova.
SDC will travel to play Concordia on Wednesday in a tune-up match before taking on the GSAC in the conference tournament held on April 18 at Indian Wells Tennis Garden.
