Serena Williams Takes on the Cutest Tennis Opponent in Adorable New Photos With Baby Adira

She may be retired, but that doesn’t mean Serena Williams has put down her racket for good. The 23-time Grand Slam champion just posted new pictures on the court, this time with the cutest new opponent: her 2-year-old daughter Adira!

“This is me sharing my passion for tennis with my youngest daughter,” Williams wrote on Instagram today. In the pictures, Williams stands on her backyard court with a tennis racket in one hand as she faces off against Adira. The toddler looks so cute in a matching white shirt-and-shorts set with light pink Crocs. She has a tennis racket in one hand, balancing a ball on top, with the biggest smile on her face.

In another snap, Williams holds the racket like a golf club, with the ball on the ground. Adira walks toward her mom, already holding the racket in one hand like a pro. In the last photo, Adira is next to her mom, looking down at the racket together. They are so precious, it melts our hearts!

“Learning with momma early!!! @serenawilliams ???? ???? ????,” one person commented. Another wrote, “She’ll be a champion like you…it’s in her blood.” So cute!

The Wyn Beauty founder shares Adira and daughter Olympia, 8, with husband Alexis Ohanian. Olympia also plays tennis with her mom, but the former Olympian isn’t encouraging her daughters to pursue a sport. Instead, she has different goals in mind.

In a 2024 interview with Byrdie, the Serena Ventures founder shared, “I want my daughters to look at my career and learn that being authentic to themselves is really the most important thing,” she said. “You don’t have to be the best as long as you do your best.”

“I also hope my daughters see how many different passions I have — from tennis to beauty — and learn that they can lead dynamic careers and lives across their many interests,” Williams added.
