Novak Djokovic’s Son Likes to Playfully ‘Intimidate’ his Dad at Tennis
Serbian Novak Djokovic is again making his way through Wimbledon, set to face Australian Alex de Minaur in the morning on July 7, 2025.
While most tennis fans have their eyes glued to the court, a perhaps equally entertaining show might be happening in the stands if Djokovic's family and kids are watching, including his 10-year-old son Stefan Djokovic.
His son, a fellow tennis player, might be up there playfully intimidating his 38-year-old, 24-time Grand Slam champion dad.
"He likes to intimidate me on the court with finishing the swing here," Novak Djokovic said during a 2022 press conference, according to Tennis Majors.
Stefan's forehand swing has garnered attention for its similarity to one of his dad's biggest rival's, Spaniard Rafael Nadal.
"He knows I don’t like that particularly," Novak Djokovic added. "I’m trying to teach him to finish the hand here, the swing, over the shoulder. But he likes to do that. Whenever he does that, he always laughs because he knows. We have this kind of funny moments on the court."
Novak Djokovic also insists his son's interest in the sport comes from his own passion, and not from a desire to have his son follow in his footsteps. But he's also ready to support his son in any way he can.
"It’s important for me that we have a relationship as a father and son, first of all, primary, before anything else, and that he’s enjoying life, that he’s having fun," he said.
With Nadal's retirement in 2024 and Swiss Roger Federer's retirement in 2022, Novak Djokovic is the only remaining active member of the Big Three, and Wimbledon 2025 could be his last chance to boost his record 24 Grand Slam titles to 25, ESPN reports.
Along with Stefan, Novak and his wife Jelena also have a younger daughter, Tara, to look after, who might also just steal the show from her dad in the crowd.
