ROLAND GARROS is set for a huge transformation at the Paris Olympics.

The Games have already kicked off with football and rugby sevens, as the opening ceremony takes place this evening.

The first tennis matches will take place on Saturday, with Spanish pair Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz linking up in the doubles.

Both are experts on clay and Nadal will be at his spiritual home – Roland Garros.

However it may feel a little different for Nadal and his colleagues, as the iconic arena will not include any Roland Garros branding.

Instead Olympic colours and logos will be used, along with the official Paris 2024 symbol.

That is not the only thing that will change, as Roland Garros will host a different sport once the tennis is complete in the first week.

Boxing will be held at the venue – but only the latter stages to decide the medals.

The preliminary rounds of the boxing will take place at Arena Paris Nord in Villepinte.

The semi-finals and final will take place at Roland Garros on Court Philippe Chartier, which at 10,068 capacity can hold 4,000 more spectators.

Paris 2024 Olympics – Opening Ceremony

Only one show in town today.. just about!

The historic Opening Ceremony which is taking place on the River Seine rather than a stadium ends proceedings on Friday evening.

While there has been football and rugby sevens among events which started before the ceremony this week, they will not be taking place on the day of the big bash.
