Tennis Player Passes Out Mid-Match in Scary Incident

0 25

French tennis player Arthur Cazaux had a scary incident on Monday at the Miami Open after he passed out in the middle of his match with cameras rolling.

Cazaux was in the third set against Harold Mayot when he pitched to the side and hit the court. Onlookers appear confused for a few moments before they rushed to aid him. Paramedics eventually wheeled him off the court in a wheelchair, and he was forced to retire from the match. He had been leading the third set 2–1, after losing the first set 6–4 and winning the second 7–5.

The umpire eventually announced that Cazaux had to retire "due to illness" without specifying what happened. The culprit was possibly the heat, with temperatures in Miami reaching the upper 80s.

Mayot will face David Goffin in his next match. Cazaux is ranked No. 74 in the world,
