Milos Raonic’s dream return to his home tournament has come to an end.

The hard-serving Canadian was eliminated by American Mackenzie McDonald in straight-sets, 6-3, 6-3 in the third round Thursday in Toronto.

Raonic, playing in just his third tournament since returning to the tour from a two-year injury absence, upset No. 9 seed Frances Tiafoe in a first-round thriller and then beat Japan’s Taro Daniel in the second round.

Raonic, a native of Thornhill, Ont., has admitted that this could be the last time he plays in front of his hometown fans on tour.

With the loss, there are no more Canadians left in the men’s singles draw.
