Men’s Tennis Set to Host Washington
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas men’s tennis team continues a four-match homestand as they welcome Washington to Billingsley Tennis Center. The Razorbacks have won five-straight matches and will face the Huskies on Friday, Feb. 10 at 6 p.m. CT.
The Razorbacks and Huskies are no strangers, having faced each other last in the 2021 season. The Hogs took the 5-2 win over Washington at home, tieing the series record at 3-3.
Arkansas’ Melvin Manuel has had an undefeated season this spring, going 7-0 overall and 4-0 at the No. 2 position for the Razorbacks. Freshman Gerard Planelles Ripoll has had an impressive season as well, leading the team with eight wins and only two losses this spring. The Razorbacks have won the doubles point in all nine wins, only dropping the point in their one loss to No. 24 Northwestern. In the No. 1 spot for doubles, Manuel and partner Stefanos Savva hold a 4-2 record.
Washington is 4-1 this dual season, with their one loss coming at the ITA Kickoff Weekend against Notre Dame, 2-4. The Huskies defeated Boise State, 4-0, in their last match before traveling to Fayetteville. Sophomore Cesar Bouchelaghem with five wins at the No. 3 spot and Dzianis Zharyn posts a 4-0 record at the No. 2 spot. The Huskies have dropped doubles in two of their last three matches with Brett Pearson and Nedim Suko leading the team at 3-1 on court two.
