[Men's Tennis] Iozzo named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Men's At-Large Team
WICHITA, Kan. – Friends University men's tennis senior student-athlete Franco Iozzo has been selected to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Men's At-Large Team as a first-team pick, the organization released today (May 20).
As a first-team all-district selection, Iozzo now advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot, with first-, second-and third-team Academic All-America honorees being announced in mid-June.
Voted on by CoSIDA members, eligible nominees must have maintained a minimum 3.30 cumulative grade point average, be a starter or important reserve, competed in at least 50 percent of their team's games, completed one full calendar year at the nominating institution and been on a college roster in that sport for two years.
Iozzo has been a key contributor to the Falcons' men's tennis program since arriving on campus.
A Finance major from Bahia Blanca, Argentina, Iozzo competed in the No. 1 doubles spot and primarily in the No. 3 singles position for the Falcons this season.
A flawless student-athlete, Iozzo is also both an NAIA and KCAC Scholar-Athlete selection.
"Franco is a great academic student and a great team leader," said Friends men's tennis head coach Alex Lee. "He has excelled in every aspect of his collegiate career and I am so proud of his accomplishments and look forward to seeing great things happen for him in the future."
