[Men's Tennis] Men's Tennis Finishes Win over Concordia
Doane Men's Tennis concluded their match with Concordia on Thursday evening after it was postponed last week due to weather conditions that moved in during the match. The Tigers entered with a 2-1 lead and closed out the match with a 5-2 victory.
Concordia swept the doubles matches to take the doubles team point. Doane bounced back with wins by Jorge Chevez (SR/Panama City, Panama) and Jose Purizaca (FR/Lima, Peru) in singles play at No. 1 and No. 3, respectively, to take the lead prior to the stoppage in play.
With play resuming, Concordia tied the match with a win at 2-singles in a three-set battle. Federico Infante (SO/Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) rallied in set two of his No. 4 singles match to take a straight sets victory, 6-1, 7-6 (7-4), to put the Tigers back in front. Henrique Sakoda (SR/Sao Paulo, Brazil) clinched the team victory with a 6-2, 6-2, win at 5-singles. Sam Coy (SR/Lincoln, Neb.) was the only match to not start in the initial meeting.
