[Women's Tennis] Hawks Fall in GSAC Championship Final to #20 USK

SURPRISE, Ariz. – A fantastic run in the Golden State Athletic Conference tournament finally came to a conclusion for the San Diego Christian College women's tennis team. The Hawks fell 0-4 to the defending tournament champion, USK Firebirds marking the second time in two seasons that the teams have battled for the crown.

The Firebirds posted a clean-sweep in the doubles competition to claim the opening point.

Singles would follow much the same way with SDCC's Anthea Weiland, Franzi Niederle, and Liza Hinrichs battling but ultimately succumbing to the regular-season champion Firebirds. Tomi Felix-Chavez, Milana Hrudka, and Tatiana Harvey were still battling when the match was clinched.

The scoreline does not do the scrappy Hawks justice, however. In each match, the SDCC women battled tooth and nail with their USK counterparts just as they had done all tournament long. Not picked to be in the semi-finals, let alone the championship match, San Diego Christian would end their season with a strong feeling of pride and accomplishment, leaving everything on the court.
