[Tennis] Tennis Teams Take on D1 Creighton
Doane Tennis traveled to Omaha on Friday to take on NCAA Division I Creighton. The Tiger men dropped their match to the Bluejays, 6-1, while the women fell, 7-0. For the men, the point taken from Creighton was the first since the late 1970s based on records available.
In the men's match, the lone Tiger victory came at No. 1 singles as Jorge Chevez (SR/Panama City, Panama) posted a 7-5, 6-7, 1-0 (10-7) victory. Federico Infante (SO/Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) won five games in his match at 3-singles. In doubles play, Chevez teamed with Donat Beke (SO/Algyo, Hungary) to win two games, most of the doubles matches.
In the women's matches, Liz van der Torre (JR/Greeley, Colo.) was the lone Tiger to win multiple games in her match, taking two at 2-singles. Ava Macke (SR/Omaha, Neb.) and Ashlyn Kucera (FR/Grand Island, Neb.) each won a game as well.
