[Tennis] Women's Tennis Sweeps; Men Fall in Non-Conference Matches

Doane Tennis hosted Bethany on Thursday afternoon in Crete. The Tiger women posted a 7-0 victory over the Swedes while the men dropped a 4-3 match.

In women's action, the Tigers won 6-3 at 1-doubles and 2-doubles while picking up a 6-0 win at 3-doubles. In singles action, Ava Macke (SR/Omaha, Neb.) collected a 7-5, 6-2, win at 1-singles while Liz van der Torre (JR/Greeley, Colo.) won 6-1, 6-1, at 2-singles. Ashlyn Kucera (FR/Grand Island, Neb.) picked up a 6-3, 7-5, win at 3-singles with Nina Ngo (JR/Crete, Neb.) winning 6-3, 6-3, at 4-singles. Payton Stalder (SR/Omaha, Neb.) and Kailyn Groski (JR/Papillion, Neb.) posted shutout victories at 5-singles and 6-singles, respectively.

The men swept through doubles play to earn the doubles point. At 1-doubles, the Tigers won 6-0, and at 2-doubles and 3-doubles, they each won 6-2. In singles action, Doane picked up two wins right away to take a 3-0 lead but the Swedes would rally by winning the last four singles matches. Picking up singles wins were Jorge Chevez (SR/Panama City, Panama), 6-1, 6-1, at 1-singles, and Jose Purizaca (FR/Lima, Peru) at 2-singles, 6-1, 6-0.

Doane travels to Hastings on Saturday for their next matches.
