WASEEM GETS SECOND IBF SHOT VS. EDWARDS MARCH 19

DUBAI,UAE- Pakistan’s Muhammad Waseem will get a second crack at the IBF world flyweight title when he clashes with Sunny Edwards of the U.K. this Saturday at the Dubai Tennis Stadium. Waseem (12-1,8KO’s) suffered his lone pro career loss when he lost in his bid to dethrone Moruti Mthalane of South Africa four years ago in Malaysia.
This will be the second title defense for the unbeaten Edwards (17-0,4KO’s), who dethroned Mthalane by unanimous decision last year. Edwards’ first defense was in Dubai, and he beat Filipino Jayson Mama by unanimous decision.
During the official weigh-in, Edwards was at 111.75 lbs, Waseem at 111.25 lbs.
Another big encounter in this card is the super lightweight WBC eliminator and WBO Inter-continental title bout between Regis Prograis (26-1,22KO’s) and Tyrone Mckenna (22-2-1,6KO’S) of the U.K. Prograis stepped on the scales at 139 while Mckenna was three quarters of a pound heavier.
A featherweight clash that promises to be a scorcher is the ten rounder between TJ Doheny from Australia and Cesar Juarez of Mexico.
Rounding up the card are the UAE’s Fahad Al Bloushi going up against Tanzanian Mohamed Kashinde, Peter McGrail of the UK vs Alexandru Ionita of Romania, Hovhannes Backhov of Armenia vs Cristian Coria of Argentina, Jamie King of the UK vs Nvaeem Verna of India, Bader Samreen of Jordan vs Denis Bartos of the Czech Republic, Khalid Ayub of the UK vs Amnen Sivareddy of India, and Faizan Anwar of India vs Khojiakbar Qoditokhunov of Uzbekistan.
