[Women's Tennis] Niederle Earns Hawks Lone Point in Loss at DII PLNU

POINT LOMA, Calif. – Not shying away from a challenge, the No. 17 San Diego Christian College women's tennis team continued their tough preseason schedule Saturday against former GSAC rival and current NCAA DII squad, Point Loma Nazarene.

The Hawks dropped the doubles competition, with two of their heavy-hitters sidelined to rest nagging injuries.

Typically, matches are played as a first to four format, but earning valuable experience for the team was at the top of coach Jim Bodor's agenda. PLNU would take 5 of the 6 singles matches.

The lone SDCC point came from veteran, Franzi Niederle. The junior showed the depth that the Hawks possess, taking down her opponent in straight sets 6-3, 6-4.

Ultimately, the DII side would prevail 1-6.

The Hawks travel to the University of Redlands to face the NCAA DIII Bulldogs on Saturday, February 12. First serve is scheduled for 3pm.
