Andy Murray never got Valentine’s cards as a kid but brother Jamie was inundated, reveals tennis star’s mum Judy

ANDY Murray never received Valentine’s Day cards as a kid but his brother Jamie was flooded with them, their mum Judy has revealed.

The two-time Wimbledon champion, 34, is now happily married to wife Kim Sears and has three children.

But growing up he wasn’t so lucky in love and often found himself number two to his older sibling, forcing mum Judy to serve up some anonymous cards to keep his spirits up.

Judy said: “Valentine’s Day reminded me of when they were little, Jamie always used to get Valentine’s Day cards from girls and Andy never did, so I used to have to send Any one anonymously so he didn’t feel left out.”

The tennis coach and former Strictly star has joined celebrity engagement platform cameo.

One of the service’s top talents, a personal message from Judy costs £30 and requests have so far seen her offering fans tennis tips, Valentines and birthday messages and much more.

Meanwhile former world number one Andy was most recently in action in the Australian Open, crashing out in the second round to Japanese qualifier Taro Daniel in straight sets.

He looked jaded following an intense first round clash against Nikoloz Basilashvili that ran over four hours.

It had been his first win at the tournament, where he has been a finalist on five occasions, since 2017.

The last few years have seen Andy blighted by injury to the extent fans doubted whether his singles career would continue.

But as he has done on so many occasions, he found the mental will to push forward.

Throughout his three-time Grand Slam winning career he has been plagued with injuries, especially to his hip.

In 2019 he underwent his second hip surgery which kept him out of action for the entire season.

At the time it was a doubt as to whether or not he would ever return to the court, but he made a comeback during the 2020 French Open.

Andy has plummeted down the rankings though and is now World no.113.
