NOVAK DJOKOVIC will learn imminently whether he can remain in Australia and compete in this year’s Australian Open.

The case involving the World No1 is now UNDERWAY as he makes a last-ditch bid to avoid deportation.

Ahead of the hearing, the Serb returned to the squalid Park Hotel where he was detained before his previous appeal against deportation, which he won.

He faces being deported once more after decision made by the country’s immigration minister to cancel his visa a second time.

But following a change of tack from Australia’s government, it is reported that Djokovic DID have a valid medical exemption.

Immigration minister Alex Hawke’s case is instead expected to focus on Djokovic’s status as a high profile unvaccinated person and the threat that could have to public health and public order.

Meanwhile Novak Djokovic has found a surprise ally in Nick Kyrgios, who has condemned players like Rafael Nadal for not speaking up to support the Australian Open champion.
