[Men's Tennis] Rohlf resigns as head men's tennis coach

John Rohlf announced he is stepping down as head men's tennis coach at St. Ambrose University to pursue other professional opportunities.

Rohlf, who was a four-year competitor for the Bees from 2010-14, was in his seventh year as head coach. He had St. Ambrose off to a great start this year. The Bees are 4-1 after closing the fall with four consecutive victories. It is the program's longest winning streak since the 2014-15 team won six straight duals.

"We appreciate everything John did for the program," said St. Ambrose Director of Athletics Mike Holmes. "We are now in the process of looking for a quality replacement to continue his work without any interruption in the schedule."

After his St. Ambrose playing career, Rohlf served as an assistant coach with the team in the spring of 2015, helping the team to 10 wins and its first winning campaign in five years. He took over as head coach in May 2015.

A Davenport native, Rohlf was a four-year varsity player at Assumption High School, where he placed eighth at the Iowa 1A State Tournament in singles as a senior. He earned his degree in journalism and radio/TV production from St. Ambrose in 2014. Rohlf also served as the Tennis Pro for Windsor Crest Club in the summers of 2013 and 2014.

The Bees are slated to begin the spring portion of their schedule on Feb. 5 against Simpson College.
