[Men's Tennis] William Jewell Tops Men's Tennis in Home Opener

Doane Men's Tennis hosted NCAA Division II William Jewell on Saturday afternoon in Crete. The Tigers dropped the match, 5-2.  Doane is now 1-1 on the season in dual action.

Doubles play started the day with the Tigers picking up one win in the three matches, dropping the doubles team point. Jorge Chevez (SR/Panama City, Panama) and Esteban Gutierrez (SO/Panama City, Panama) teamed for a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles.

In singles play, the Tigers picked up two wins for their team points. At No. 2 singles, Gutierrez won in a tie-break, 7-6 (7-5), 3-6, 1-0 (11-9). Henrique Sakoda (SR/Sao Paulo, Brazil) won at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-3.

Doane takes on Iowa Central CC in a scrimmage on Sunday at 2 PM.
