[Women's Tennis] William Jewell Spoils Women's Tennis Home Opener

Doane Women's Tennis played their first home match of the season as they hosted NCAA Division II William Jewell on Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals knocked off the Tigers, 5-2. Doane is 1-1 on the season.

In doubles play, the Tigers won two of the three matches to earn the team point. At No. 1, Mariane Lima (JR/Belo Horizonte, Brazil) and Amber Weston (SO/Mead, Colo.) teamed for a 6-4 win. Ashlyn Kucera (FR/Grand Island, Neb.) and Brylee Lauby (SR/Lexington, Neb.) were victorious at No. 3, 6-2.

In singles action, Lauby won the Tigers' only point at No. 6 singles. She won in a tie-break, 6-2, 5-7, 1-0 (10-3).

The Tigers will host Iowa Central in a scrimmage on Sunday at 2 PM.
