[Men's Tennis] Men's Tennis Blanks Wesleyan in Dual Opener

Doane Men's Tennis opened their dual season on Tuesday with a sweep of Nebraska Wesleyan in Lincoln. The Tigers won, 7-0, and won each match played.

In singles action, Doane picked up six points with only one match extended to a third-set super tie-break. Jorge Chevez (SR/Panama City, Panama) won 6-1, 6-2, at No. 1 while Esteban Gutierrez (SO/Panama City, Panama) won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2. The 3-singles spot was won by Henrique Sakoda (SR/Sao Paulo, Brazil), 6-1, 6-3, while Sam Coy (SR/Lincoln, Neb.) won at No. 4, 7-6 (7-5), 2-6, 1-0 (10-6). Donat Beke (SO/Algyo, Hungary) claimed the win at No. 5, 6-2, 6-2, and Parker Hansen (SR/Norfolk, Neb.) was victorious at No. 6, 6-1, 6-0.

In doubles play, Chevez and Gutierrez teamed up for an 8-5 win. Coy and Beke won 8-7 (7-5) at No. 2 doubles and Sakoda and Hansen won 8-2 at No. 3 doubles.

In an exhibition match, Milo Ciotti (JR/Lincoln, Neb.) won 8-1.

Next up for the Tigers is a home dual with Bethel on October 5 at 11 AM. Bethel will bring to town two players who held seeds in the recent ITA Regional Tournament as well as the No. 1 seed in doubles from the tournament.
