[Women's Tennis] Women's Tennis Records Clean Sweep of Wesleyan

Doane Women's Tennis went on the road on Wednesday and drubbed Nebraska Wesleyan by a 7-0 score. The Tigers won in each match in straight sets while also sweeping the additional three exhibition matches that were played.

In doubles action, the Tigers made quick work of NWU. Mariane Lima (JR/Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais) and Amber Weston (SO/Mead, Colo.) teamed for an 8-1 win at No. 1. Ava Macke (SR/Omaha, Neb.) and Liz van der Torre (JR/Greeley, Colo.) won 8-2 in the 2-doubles match. At No. 3, Ashlyn Kucera (FR/Grand Island, Neb.) and Brylee Lauby (SR/Lexington, Neb.) teamed up for an 8-3 win.

Lima took the No. 1 singles match, 6-3, 6-4, for the Tigers. Weston claimed a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 2. Macke was the first off the court following a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 3. At No. 4, van der Torre won 6-2, 6-1. Kucera didn't give up a game as she won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 and Lauby posted a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6.

In the exhibition matches, Payton Stalder (SR/Omaha, Neb.) won 8-0 and Danielle Ruiz Martinez won 6-0. They teamed up in a doubles match, collecting an 8-6 win.

Doane will play their first home match of the season on Tuesday, October 5 at 11 AM when they host Bethel.
