THE final tennis Grand Slam of the year is underway at Flushing Meadows in New York.

Novak Djokovic is bidding to win all four Slams in the same calendar year and would be the first man to do so since Rod Laver in 1969.

Djokovic has already won in Australia, France and at Wimbledon this year – but did miss out in Tokyo at the Olympics, where Alexander Zverev won gold.

Andy Murray is already out after losing to Stefanos Tsitsipas in a five-set thriller.

On the women’s side Serena Williams also withdrew due to injury.

Aussie Ashleigh Barty is the favourite at 7/2 with Naomi Osaka 11/2, while Olympics gold medallist Belinda Bencic is 25/1.
