[Women's Tennis] Hubbs Coach of the Year; Seven Earn All-GPAC

Doane Women's Tennis collected numerous honors on Monday as the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) announced the all-conference teams for the 2021 season. Each of the Tigers' singles and doubles positions earned All-GPAC recognition this year after the Tigers posted a 14-6 overall record and tied for first in the conference.

Ed Hubbs guided the Tigers to their first-ever conference title and was named the GPAC Women's Tennis Coach of the Year. In his second season as head coach of the Tigers, he led the team to 14 wins, tying the school record. This is the second coach of the year award for Hubbs, who was the 1994 Missouri Valley Conference Women's Coach of the Year while at Creighton University.

Doane had seven individuals receive all-conference honors in either singles or doubles play, or both. Amber Weston (FR/Mead, Colo.), Ava Macke (JR/Omaha, Neb.), Liz van der Torre (SO/Greeley, Colo.), and Makayla Rice (SR/Lincoln, Neb.) each earned First Team honors with Brylee Lauby (JR/Lexington, Neb.) and Huong Ngo (SO/Crete, Neb.) receiving honorable mention recognition in singles play. In doubles action, the teams of Weston and Lauby along with Macke and van der Torre were named First Team selections with the team of Ngo and Payton Stalder (JR/Omaha, Neb.) receiving honorable mention.
