[Men's Tennis] Men's Tennis Season Ends in GPAC Semifinals
Doane Men's Tennis closed out the season on Friday by going 1-1 at the GPAC Tournament, falling in the semifinals to end their season. The Tigers opened with a 4-0 win over Northwestern before falling to Concordia, 4-2. Doane finished the season with an 11-10 record.
In the GPAC Quarterfinals, Doane won the doubles point quickly as 1-doubles and 2-doubles were victorious. The 3-doubles match did not conclude with the point won. Jorge Chevez (JR/Panama City, Panama) and Esteban Gutierrez (FR/Panama City, Panama) won 6-0 at 1-doubles while Federico Infante (FR/Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) and Henrique Sakoda (JR/Sao Paulo, Brazil) won 6-2 at 2-doubles. In singles action, Chevez won at 1-singles, Sakoda won at 4-singles, and Sam Coy (JR/Lincoln, Neb.) was victorious at 5-singles.
Against Concordia in the GPAC Semifinals, Concordia won two doubles matches to claim the early lead. Doane received wins in singles action by Chevez and Infante at 1 and 2-singles. Concordia clinched the match by winning at 3, 4, and 5-singles. The match at 6-singles did not finish.
