[Women's Tennis] Indiana Tech Wins Women's Tennis Tournament

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - (Tournament Page) - Indiana Tech won the the 2021 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Women's Tennis Tournament with a 4-2 win against defending champs UNOH. Its the first tournament title for the Warriors who improve to 17-2 on the year.

UNOH took the No. 1 Doubles (Camila Puente/Ana Cetina) match while IT won at No. 2 (Marianna Murcia/Vero Jimenez) and No. 3 ( Anna Gomez/Abigail Simms) for a 1-0 lead heading into the singles competition.

The No. 5 Singles match finished first with Gomez winning for IT for a 2-0 Warrior lead. Cetina took No. 2 singles for UNOH to make the score 2-1. Her teammate Camila Puente then won No. 1 singles to tie it a 2-2. The WHAC Newcomer of the Year Murcia won at No. 3 singles for for Tech and Thaina Carvalho win No 6 in three sets for the team victory.    

It's the first tournament title for the Warriors, who claim the WHAC's automatic berth to the NAIA Women's Tennis National Championship in Mobile, Ala. with the win - also a first for the Warriors.
