[Women's Tennis] Bees open CCAC Tournament with win over Eagles
A tiebreaker at No. 3 doubles proved to be the difference in SAU's CCAC Tournament opener against Judson Sunday afternoon at Assumption High School.
The pair of Kelsey Jaeger and Saryn Seeley pulled out a 7-6 (7-5) win in that match, and with it, the Bees earned a slim 4-3 win over the Eagles. St. Ambrose will now visit No. 10 Cardinal Stritch in a conference tournament semifinal Wednesday.
Jaeger and Seeley's victory paired with Kaylee Camp and Megan Schueneman's 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles gave the Bees the doubles point. And that became really important as the two teams split the six singles matches.
Jaeger was SAU's lone two-time winner Sunday. She won her No. 5 singles match 6-1, 6-4.
Kiersten Housenga earned a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles, and Lily Malas defeated her opponent 6-4, 6-0 at No. 6.
Meg Chadick (No. 1), Schueneman (No. 3) and Camp (No. 4) dropped their singles matches. The No. 1 doubles team of Chadick and Housenga fell 6-4.
