[Tennis] Women's Tennis Inches Towards GPAC Title; Men Downed
Doane Tennis hosted Midland on Saturday in GPAC action with regular season title aspirations on the line. The Tiger women kept those hopes alive with a 5-2 victory over the Warriors while the Tiger men suffered their second conference loss of the season, losing 6-1 to Midland.
For the women's contest, Doane remained in the hunt for their first-ever conference title as they swept doubles action and then won four of the six singles matches. A win over Mount Marty on April 27 will give Doane a share of the conference crown. Morningside has concluded their conference season with a 6-1 mark while Doane and Concordia are sitting at 5-1 each with one match apiece remaining.
The Doane men fell out of title contention as they suffered their second GPAC loss. Doane remains in the hunt for a Top 3 finish as they will battle Morningside on April 26 with the winner claiming the 3-seed in the conference tournament. Doane will close out the regular season on April 27 at Mount Marty. Midland and Concordia will battle for the conference title on April 27 and both teams will receive byes in the GPAC tournament opening round.
