[Women's Tennis] Hawks Defeat Westmont 4-0 In GSAC Championship Semifinal
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – After finishing the regular season with an 11-0 record, the No. 12 Hawks women earned a first-round bye as the number one seed in the GSAC Championship Tournament and moved straight to Wednesday's semifinal against the Westmont Warriors. The Warriors proved no match for San Diego Christian and the Hawks cruised to a 4-0 sweep advancing to Thursday's final.
The Hawks earned the all-important doubles point winning 2-0 to get the match started on a winning note. Singles went just as smoothly with Tomi Felix earning the first point in singles winning 6-4, 7-5. Barbara Damiani took down her Westmont opponent 6-2, 6-4 to earn the third point of the match. Valentina Sottile clinched the victory for the Hawks with a 6-2, 6-1 win.
The Hawks will now face the University of Saint Katherine Firebirds in the championship match on Thursday at 9:00 am.
