[Women's Tennis] Women's Tennis Takes Out NCAA DII Truman State

Doane Women's Tennis hosted Truman State University, a NCAA Division II program from Missouri on Saturday in Crete. The Tigers put forth a very strong performance as they downed the Bulldogs, 5-2. The victory was the second over a Division II opponent this season for Doane.

The Tigers opened up by sweeping doubles action. First off the court were Huong Ngo (SO/Crete, Neb.) and Payton Stalder (JR/Omaha, Neb.) as they won 6-2 at 3-doubles. Amber Weston (FR/Mead, Colo.) and Brylee Lauby (JR/Lexington, Neb.) quickly followed at 1-singles with a 6-3 victory. The finals double match saw Ava Macke (JR/Omaha, Neb.) and Liz van der Torre (SO/Greeley, Colo.) take the last three games to post a 7-5 win.

In singles action, Weston and Macke cruised to straight set victories at 1-singles and 2-singles, respectively. Truman picked up wins at 3-singles in a tie-break and at 5-singles. van der Torre and Makayla Rice (SR/Lincoln, Neb.) each posted a first-set tie-break win and then cruised to in set two.
