Australian Open Day 6 "Upsets & Fights" - Tennis Now News 01/22/2011

0
Lauren Lynch reports the latest tennis news from down under. "Upset" seems to be the word of the day on Australian Open Day 6. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga falls to Ukrainian Alexandr Dolgopolov, who will face robin Soderling in round four. Mikhail Youzhny tumbles to youngster Milos Raonic. John Isner bows out to Marin Cilic, leaving Andy Roddick alone in the Amercian men's Aussie Open lineup. Cilic faces Nadal, who predictably dispatched Bernard Tomic, but not without some encouraging words for the up and coming Australian. Tension reaches a head in a competitive doubles match between Paes/Bhupathi and Lopez/Monaco, forcing a chair umpire to break up the scuffle. Upsets for the ladies include Samantha Stosur, Shahar Pe'er, and Nadia Petrova, all of whom fell to lower seeded or unseeded players. Among those advancing are racquet-snapper Agnieszka Radwanska, Ekaterina Makarova, and Flavia Pennetta, along with Kim Clijsters and Vera Zvonareva. Keep watching for the Day 7 match preview.
